Multiplier Event – Genoa

The multiplier event in Italy took place in Genoa, at the Preschool and Primary School IC in
Sampierdarena, Genoa, on 17 June, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
It was attended by 27 people, teachers and university students and was introduced by a talk on the Algorithmic Thinking in the preschool and primary school by the school headmistress, Prof. Sara Bandini, lecturer at the University of Genoa, Science of Education.

Fiorella Operto from Scuola di Robotica presented Algolittle, the rationale, the Modules, interactive animated presentations, and some applications made by pre-schools during piloting. There was a lively discussion on how to introduce algorithmic thinking in pre-school and primary school and especially on the use of coding and educational robotics in this regard.

Many participating teachers and students were familiar with some robotics kits such as Blue-Bot and mTiny and had used Scratch.

The follow-up was important: University Lecturer Sara Baldini agreed to add Algolittle to the syllabus of her next university course.
